St Pauls Girls School, Hammersmith
– FTMRC Commercial Roofing Project Winner 2025
– Shortlisted for the RCI Pitched Roofing Awards 2025
The 2025 FTMRC Commercial Roofing Award was proudly awarded to the outstanding roof at St Paul’s Girls’ School, a landmark educational institution in Hammersmith. This project exemplifies the highest standards of craftsmanship and innovation in traditional metal roofing.
Utilising VM Zinc Pigmento Red, the roof was installed in a striking herringbone pattern, showcasing both technical precision and architectural flair. The bold colour choice complements the historic character of the school while introducing a contemporary aesthetic that elevates the building’s visual impact.
This award-winning installation not only meets the rigorous standards set out in the FTMRC’s Guide to Good Practice, but also demonstrates excellence in design, detailing, and execution. The project stands as a benchmark for quality in commercial roofing and a testament to the enduring beauty and versatility of hard metal materials.
Barwick Farm, Hertfordshire

Barwick Farm was completed during the Summer of 2021, amidst a Global Pandemic our team was able to continue working on transforming a dilapidated barn building into four high-end residential properties in Barwick, Hertfordshire. Surrounded by acres of beautiful countryside, Elzinc Lava Standing Seam Roofing provides a contemporary finish to this established rural structure.
Charterhouse Science and Maths Centre, Godalming, Surrey
– Winner FTMRC Commercial Roof of the Year 2020
– Shortlisted RCI Pitched Roofing ‘Awards 2019
As well as receiving the above, we also won the VMZINC social media competition for the beautiful photo of the finished Charterhouse School project. The photo perfectly encapsulates the intricacy and quality of our work as well as the elegance of the building itself. The award was presented to us at our Surrey office by Richard Parrett, the VMZINC sales manager, who bestowed us with a lovely bottle of bubbly to celebrate!
JFK Beckton School
– Shortlisted for Facade Awards UK 2026 – Best Use of Rainscreen System Using Specialist Metals
JFK Beckton School showcases the successful use of VM Zinc Pigmento Red rainscreen cladding to create a bold and distinctive educational building. Installed by Salmon Solutions, the façade combines architectural impact with exceptional durability, delivering a vibrant identity for the school and wider community.
The zinc rainscreen system was installed onto a fully non-combustible substrate and support structure, providing a safe, compliant, and high-performing external envelope. Careful detailing and expert installation ensured consistent panel alignment, clean lines, and a premium finish throughout.
By combining the aesthetic qualities of specialist metal cladding with robust fire performance, longevity, and low maintenance requirements, JFK Beckton School demonstrates how modern rainscreen systems can meet the highest standards of design and construction. The project is an excellent example of innovative façade engineering and specialist metal craftsmanship worthy of recognition at the Facade Awards UK 2026.
Mote Park Cafe & Community Hub, Maidstone
– Finalist of FTMRC Commercial Roofing Award 2024- sponsored by SIG Zinc & Copper
Mote Park is an award-winning public park in Maidstone, Kent. The 440-acre multi-use park is used by locals throughout Kent and surrounding areas for several activities, including Water Sports, Outdoor Training, Children’s Parks and even Music Festivals. We received the order for the new development of the Café and Community Hub in 2021 and completed our work in 2022. We installed over 700m2 of VM Zinc Anthra Standing Seam Roofing and Cladding, including Timber Substrate.
The Foundry, Shepherds Bush
– Finalist for FTMRC Commercial Roofing Award 2023
19th Century Foundry in West London transformed into office space for the renowned architect Timothy Hatton. VM Zinc Quartz Standing Seam Roofing Installed to a ventilated timber substrate. Meticulous planning and setting out helped us deliver the finish the client desired with Flush Rooflight Detailing Including Surrounding Channels and a G3 Ridge concept developed to incorporate Standing Seams.
Old Stables, Effingham
– Shortlisted for Best Refurbishment Project at the SPRA Awards 2023
Protan Single Ply Roofing Project completed in Effingham, Surrey. Removal of failed Zinc Roof and replacement in Single Ply Membrane. This was a warm roof construction and our works included the removal of existing roofing material and new installation of a warm roof construction including carpentry works. We took on the role of Principal Contractor for this domestic roofing project.
Smale House , Southwalk
– Finalist for the FTMRC Cladding Award 2022
Vodafone UK’s London Nerve Centre, Smale House is positioned between the thriving junction of Great Suffolk Street and Webber Street in London and was opened in 1959.
The refurbishment project was completed to a strict programme set by the overall client Vodafone in the Summer of 2019. We worked closely with our client Area to deliver this project in time for the grand opening by the Mayor of London Sadiq Khan. This envelope package comprised of Sika Sarnafil Roofing, VM Zinc Anthra Interlocking Panel Cladding including all Substrates and rainwater goods.
Boarding Houses at Charterhouse, Godalming
– Shortlisted for the RCI Pitched Roofing Awards 2022
Our second project at the infamous Charterhouse School in Godalming, Surrey brought us the task of installing over 2500m2 of VM Zinc Roofing, including Substrates and Aluminium Rainwater Goods on the North and South Boarding Houses. Both Blocks were a mirror image of each other, with the exterior facade consisting of Brick, Stone and Zinc. Working closely with Charterhouse School, TSH Architects, Feltham Construction and VM Zinc made this outstanding project a pleasure to be part of.

Victoria Road, Winchester
– Finalist of FTMRC The Cladding Award 2021 – Sponsored by ALM HM
– Shortlisted RCI Pitched Roofing Awards 2021
An impressive residential development of 27 homes in the historic town of Winchester, Hampshire. Working closely with Architecture PLB and VM Zinc we successfully installed over 600m2 of VM Zinc Anthra Standing Seam Roofing and Cladding. We were involved in this project from an early stage attending several meetings before the project started discussing products, specifications, design and site-specific requirements in detail. We had to overcome several challenges with one being the original principal contractor’s liquidation, working with Winchester City Council we were able to complete the project and install other elements including the Zinc Rainwater Goods and KME Tecu Oxid Copper Window Surrounds.
Oakhurst Gardens, Rustington
– Highly Commended at the Sussex Heritage trust awards 2025.
Salmon Solutions is proud to have received a Highly Commended recognition for our work on the Oakhurst Gardens project in Rustington. This achievement celebrates our commitment to craftsmanship, heritage, and innovative roofing solutions.
Working in collaboration with Pilbeam Construction, we delivered a stunning roof installation using VM Zinc Azengar standing seam roofing, chosen for its durability, contemporary aesthetic, and ability to complement the architectural character of the development. The project exemplifies the balance between modern materials and traditional design principles, ensuring longevity while respecting the heritage of the Sussex landscape.

The Beeches, Bromley
– Finalist for FTMRC Small Project the Year 2020
This prestigious industry recognition celebrated the quality, craftsmanship and technical excellence demonstrated throughout the project. Despite its size, The Beeches presented a range of detailing and installation challenges that required careful planning, specialist expertise and close collaboration between all parties involved.
Our team delivered the project to the highest standards, ensuring exceptional attention to detail and a finish that met both the client’s expectations and the stringent requirements of the roofing specification. The nomination highlighted our commitment to quality workmanship, innovative problem-solving and professional project delivery.

Stewards House, Ascot Racecourse, Berkshire
– Shortlisted RCI Pitched Roofing ‘Awards 2020
Salmon Solutions was proud to be shortlisted in the RCI Pitched Roofing Awards 2020 for our roofing refurbishment works at Stewards House, Ascot Racecourse.
Situated at the entrance to the Grandstand and Parade Ring, Stewards House is one of the most recognisable buildings at Ascot Racecourse and serves as the first impression for the hundreds of thousands of visitors attending Royal Ascot each year. The refurbishment of this historic listed building demanded exceptional attention to detail, craftsmanship and technical expertise.
Working alongside Triton Building Restoration and PREFA Aluminium, our team successfully installed approximately 600m² of PREFA Aluminium Batten Roll Roofing across 11 individual roof areas. The project required a sensitive approach to preserve the building’s heritage character whilst delivering a modern, durable roofing solution capable of performing for decades to come.
Being shortlisted for the RCI Pitched Roofing Awards 2020 recognised the quality of workmanship, complexity of the installation and collaborative effort that contributed to the successful completion of this prestigious project.
Charlotte Street, London
– Renolit Alkorplan 2016 Single Ply Installer of the Year 2016
Salmon Solutions was honoured to receive the Renolit Alkorplan Single Ply Installer of the Year Award 2016 for our work at Charlotte Street, London.
Located in the heart of Central London, the Charlotte Street project showcased the highest standards of single ply roofing installation, technical expertise and project delivery. The development required a high-performance roofing solution capable of meeting demanding design and performance criteria while being installed to an exceptional standard.
Working closely with the project team and manufacturer, our experienced installers delivered a roofing system that demonstrated outstanding workmanship, attention to detail and adherence to best practice throughout every stage of the installation. The completed roof combined durability, weather resistance and long-term performance with the quality expected on a prestigious London development.
The project’s success was recognised by Renolit Alkorplan, resulting in Salmon Solutions being awarded Single Ply Installer of the Year 2016. This achievement reflects the commitment, skill and professionalism of our workforce and highlights our ability to consistently deliver award-winning roofing solutions.
